Acceptable Use Policy
What you may not make or do with Tingle Studio, how we check, and what happens when the rules are broken.
Last updated
This policy is part of the Terms of Service. It applies to everyone who uses Tingle Studio, to everything you put into it, and to everything you make with it, wherever you use the result.
Real people
Characters in Tingle Studio are designed, never copied from a real person. You must not:
- create a picture, video or voice that looks or sounds like a real, identifiable person without their consent;
- name a real person in a prompt, or describe a character as looking or sounding like someone, to make a character resemble them;
- upload photographs, video or voice recordings of a real person as a reference for a character’s face, body or voice. The one exception is a member of your project using their own image or voice, with their written consent, as a guide for a performance or movement whose face and voice are then replaced. Pictures of celebrities and other public figures may never be used as references;
- clone a voice, make a sound-alike, or ask for anything “in the voice of” a real person. Voices are designed from written descriptions;
- give a real person who appears in your source material a photorealistic face or a voice that imitates them, unless you have a lawful basis for it and, where it is needed, their consent. Otherwise, stylise them, show them from behind, or leave them out.
Children
- Never create, upload or request sexual content involving minors, or anything that sexualises a child. There are no exceptions, whatever the story or the instruction. We close the account at once and report it to the authorities.
- Child characters must be designed as characters, never derived from a real child.
- Never frame minors in a sexualised or gratuitously violent way.
Intimate and sexual content
- No intimate or sexual imagery of a real person, whether or not it is labelled as fake.
- No sexual content made to harass, shame or exploit anyone. AI providers also have their own rules on sexual content, and they apply too.
Deception and impersonation
- Don’t impersonate a real person or organisation, or present yourself as acting for one when you are not.
- Don’t make deepfakes of politicians, candidates or public officials, or any content meant to mislead people about an election, a vote or public affairs.
- Don’t present AI-made material as real footage of real events, or remove or misrepresent the AI disclosure when you publish.
- Don’t remove watermarks, content credentials or other provenance information that a provider or Tingle Studio adds to outputs.
- Don’t use real seals, official marks or other organisations’ logos to make something look genuine.
Harm and illegal content
- No harassment, bullying, threats or incitement to violence against anyone.
- No content that promotes terrorism or violent extremism, or attacks people for who they are.
- Nothing that is illegal where you make it or where you publish it, and no help with illegal acts.
Other people’s rights
- Adapt only works you have the rights to adapt, as the Terms of Service set out.
- Don’t upload or generate material that infringes someone else’s copyright, trade marks, privacy or other rights.
The service itself
- Don’t try to get round the likeness check, a provider’s content filters, budgets and caps, rate limits or any other control.
- Don’t try to reach another organisation’s data, and don’t probe, scan or test Tingle Studio’s security without our written permission. If you find a vulnerability, tell us at info@tingle.press.
- Don’t resell Tingle Studio or give others access to it, or to the AI providers behind it, outside your organisation.
- Don’t share your account or create accounts by automated means.
- Use only provider keys you are entitled to use.
Providers’ rules
Everything you send to an AI provider must also follow that provider’s own usage policy. Providers may refuse a request, and some charge for refused requests. Don’t try to get a refused request through by rewording it to evade the filter.
How we check
- Likeness check. Before a character’s designed face is locked, it is checked with celebrity recognition (AWS Rekognition) and a reverse image search (TinEye). A match means the face must be redesigned, and a near match must be looked at by a person. By default, a face cannot be locked until the check has run and found nothing.
- Provider moderation. AI providers screen requests and outputs under their own policies.
- Records. Tingle Studio records who generated, chose and approved what. We review those records, and the content, when we have reason to think this policy has been broken.
If the rules are broken
Depending on how serious it is, we may remove content, stop generation, suspend or close the account or the organisation, and report it to the authorities where the law requires or where people are at risk. Sexual content involving minors always means immediate closure and a report to the authorities.
Reporting a concern
If you think something made with Tingle Studio breaks this policy or infringes your rights, write to info@tingle.press. Tell us what it is, where you saw it, and why you are concerned. If it concerns you personally, the Privacy notice explains how we handle your information.
